Blue Fire The Healing Wars 1st Edition Book 2 Janice Hardy Books

I highly recommend that you read The Shifter (The Healing Wars: Book I) before you read this book.

I found both books to be very enjoyable to read. The heroine of this story, 15 year old Nya, along with her sister Tali, has been orphaned by a war that was started by a very evil and greedy Duke.

Nya has a very special talent (she can shift pain from one person to another) which her parents told her to never reveal. However, circumstances beyond her control force her to shift, and this was witnessed by bystanders. This unfortunately brings her to the attention of the Duke, who wants to have her captured so that he can use her as a potentially lethal weapon.

In book two, Nya has been captured and brought to the the capital, Braseer, where she learns that the Duke is not very popular there with many of the residents, and that many of them have formed an underground to resist the Duke.

Nya learns, as she is forced to use her special abilities, that there is often a very high price to pay; one that, although she is not willing to pay it, none the less, she often has to make the best of a bad situation.

I truly enjoyed following Nya as she struggles to survive while resisting the temptation to give into her anger, for fear that she might end up becoming as self serving as the Duke. There is a grimness and despair to these stories that I found very compelling, and I am looking forward to the third book in this series!

Blue Fire The Healing Wars 1st Edition Book 2 Janice Hardy Books Reviews

I bought this book for my 13 year old daughter, she really enjoys reading the trilogy. look forward to more great books by this author.
This was another awesome book loved every dot and detail about the book I recommend it to all readers. Thanks.
Though not as excting as Book One in the trilogy, It felt a bit slow in places and a little anti-climactic. Wanted more of duel between the Main Character and the Duke. Expect it will come in the third book. Still loved it and looking forward to the final book.
I was very excited when i bought this book as i had already purchased the first one and was eager to continue reading this series. the trials that the main characters face in this book remind me of how easy my life is and the fact that I should be very grateful that I do not have to face these trials also. I hope to read the last book in this trilogy.
A very good book that further fleshes out the world of shifter. If you liked the first you will love this one. I was taken for a ride, the safety that the main character had in the first book is completely gone and she sucked into a whirlwind of an adventure. This book pulls you from your safe zone and makes you worry and hope about what is going to happen next.
This is just a great find. It got me when I read The Shifter, and, after that, I knew I had to read the second book. When I read this book it really surprised me where the protagonist stood, and what tasks were ahead for her. It's just a really good book. I can't wait to read the next one.
I was really pleased with this sequel. It brings us deeper into the world and the unique fantasy elements that have been created. We get a further glimpse into the recent history of how the Duke came to power, why people are manipulated the way that they are in order to do the terrible things that they do, and that the fight is a full-scale war across the territories, not just in Nya's own back yard.

Nya is fun as a character and although sometimes it's hard to believe that she's able to survive many of the battles she fights, it's certainly contextual to her special powers, so it's not completely out of the realm of possibility. I'm excited to see the third in the trilogy and how the story pans out. I hope that more of the far past will be revealed as it pertains to these runes inscribed onto these plates of Pynvium. In fact, my only major criticism would be that I'd love a deeper dive into the fantasy of the world. Where did it come from? How did they discover that people could do this with this special stone, and how did that shape their world moving forward up until the present time?
