What a weekend, I discovered the work of two talented artists and had a very entertaining time with their stories.
I do not usually read late XIXth century stories but all the one I read have been great reads.
And this one is one more to add to the list.

It was a slow built story, with an heroine who will little by little take matter in hands and become what she always dreamed to be, while the H will reform his ways and open his mind to others ideas.
Interesting that while working five years together, they each only saw the facade of another, even if Emma had a more complete view than Harry, each one has preconceived ideas of the other.
It is smoothly that they will learn to see beyond the appearances, Harry as a man lusts after his ex secretary but he also respects her and won’t do anything to hurt her. He is sometime blunt but the more he troubles Emma, the more she will grow to be herself and to live for herself.
Emma has left behind her girl’s dreams and hopes, she follows what was inculcated in her since her childhood, and tries to please by bending to the rules. In Harry’s contact, once she is no more his subordinate, she will revel herself, slowly becoming the woman she could have been.
Harry married for love, but marital life quickly turned in a nightmare, why he vowed to never marry again and engages in affairs with courtesans. For five years, he never had a glimpse of who could be Miss Emma Dove, until she resigned, he never saw a desirable woman in her, then she becomes alive and shine, and he can think is about her, and not in the proper way. By working together, he will get closer of the object of his fantasies, he will also discover the real Emma behind the flesh of Miss Dove.

Their journey will demand time, it has very few dents, but with each level overcome, they have to make decisions but they reach the roof and must decide to go back or stay there.
This book has some steamy scenes but the more sensuous where the two scenes without kissing, at the chocolate shop and at Emma’s place when Harry describes what he will want to do when making love to her.
A beautiful story about love, acceptance and live life at the fullest.

Harry and Emma waltzed their way into my heart and left me feeling like royalty! I was completely enthralled the entire time, even when Emma frustrated me!

After being shunned by his, wife which left him divorced and his family’s reputation ruined, he’s had more than enough of relationships. Finally growing tired of his constant rejection of her manuscripts, Emma quits without notice, and ends up working for Harry’s top competitor after the man offers her her own column in his newspaper. When she’s an instant success, Harry realizes his mistake and makes an attempt to win her back as his secretary. When she repeatedly refuses, he does the only thing he can. He buys the newspaper. Determined to keep her in his employ, Harry agrees to give Emma her own section in the newspaper, but insists he gets to edit. As disdain turns into mutual respect, which quickly grows into attraction, the two are left trying to figure out how to move forward.

I was hooked the moment I read how Emma handled Harry’s jilted lover. Her always-proper demeanor was a welcome flaw, which made her all the more likable, until she frustrated me – but it was only for a second. Despite my eventual frustration with her character’s actions, I related to her, and I didn’t feel overwhelmed by her behavior. Harry was quite entertaining, and I loved his interaction with his family. I laughed not only when he was trying to be funny, but even when he wasn’t. I was glad that his rakish behavior had a reason other than just loving sex.

I was pleased with how the shift in their relationship was crafted -each developing a new view of the other, as well as themselves. The flow was easy, the pace good. I don’t recall one page that wasn’t engaging.

Clear a few hours on your schedule, and pick someplace quiet and comfortable. You’ll want to read this nonstop.
